Bem-Vindo: Welcome to the incredible country of Portugal. Small, yet mighty and very musical, here, the singers touring with Derek Jamieson will be featured on prime stages and explore a stunning destination.
The Air-Land choir tour dates are Thursday, April 1, through Thursday, April 8, 2027. Students traveling with family can opt to travel Land-only and/or extend. We’re holding 60 seats with American Airlines on connecting flights through PHL.

Take a closer look at this Portuguese journey designed for current SMHS Chamber and Concert Choir students as a one-of-a-kind performance tour featuring Porto, Mafra & Lisbon.

Registration is now open for eligible students and approved chaperones. The Land-Only Student option initially shows as “not available” because approval from Mr. Jamieson is required, but that’s how you get on the waitlist.

    Overnight Flights from LAX to Lisbon

    Air-Land Groups fly with American Airlines
    AA Air-Land group departs from LAX on Thursday, April 1, 2027, and arrives in Lisbon, Portugal the next day, Friday, April 2. Land-Only travelers meet the group at the airport In Lisbon on Friday, April 2, 2027.

    Porto: Visits, Exploring & Concert

    Welcome to Lisbon, coach transfer to Porto. Sightseeing and exploring over the three days (on foot and by boat) is complemented by a highlight concert in a stunning venue in Porto.

    Via Mafra (Palace visit & likely concert) to Lisbon

    Take the roads less traveled as you venture into the heart of Portugal, exploring Mafra. A likely school exchange and concert are being planned today in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Mafra, likely at the National Palace, the stunning Basilica or the National Museum of Music.

    Lisbon in-depth: Visits & Final Performance

    Welcome to Lisbon. Sightseeing, a tasting of traditional pasteis de nata, two dinners, and the final performance will take place in Lisbon.

    Return Flights from Lisbon - Or Optional Portugal Extension

    Air-Land student travelers return from Lisbon LIS today with same day arrival at LAX. Students traveling with family may opt extend their stay and, if interest is greater than 20, a group or individual optional extension to Alentejo (Evora, Torre de Palma, etc.)
